Day 0 - Preparations

What to wear when, (or what not to wear) has been an issue in the preparations for our Licence to Learn-journey. In most of the schools in the UK, teachers and other staff are expected to wear formal clothes, and for male teachers this means trousers, shirt, jacket and tie. NO jeans or sneakers, please! When I pointed out this piece of information in the letter from the course provider, Alfon got a slightly desperate look on his face. But since he his a man of action, he soon recovered and rised to the occasion: A totally new wardrobe is now purchased, and I'll keep you posted on his various outfits the following days.

As you can see, this is a "before" picture :)

The course we will be attending is called  "2 week course for European teachers in vocational schools - English teachers and teachers of vocational subjects". Most of the programme is similar for both groups, but there are different tuition some of the days. Here is Alfon's programme:

We have also arranged a school visit in London on Tuesday 6th November, with generous help from David Gayther, who visited Meløy in May. He works for Skills Funding Agency, wich is an organisation under the Department for Business, Innovation and skills. We will be visiting College of North West London, which looks very interesting. Click the link and read and learn!

Tomorrow is travel day, and we'll keep you updated!
